First time Spring Boot Application Setup in Eclipse IDE

1. Introduction

In this article we will be setting up a new Spring Boot project using Eclipse IDE. It’s quite easy.

2. Steps to follow

a. The first and foremost step would be to open your Eclipse IDE and navigate to Eclipse Marketplace. Once you are there, in the search box, type ‘sts’ and press Enter. From the search result, select the STS version and click on the Install button.

b. Once it is installed, go to File –> New –> Spring Starter Project, as shown below –

c. Fill-in the new project details and click on Next, as can be seen in the below snapshot –

d. Make sure you select the Actuator and Web. Click on Finish and you are done.

e. Below is the project structure you will see appearing in your Eclipse IDE.
